National Transport Manager


Role purpose: To effectively manage the Depot Transport at operational level for all of Ireland and to be heavily involved in major projects throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organise, plan and manage the daily transport operation for all depots
  • Ensuring KPIs are met and budget is achieved
  • Deliver all aspects of customer service including liaising with other departments, customers and suppliers
  • People management; performance and development reviews to be completed. Adhere to all HR processes and ensure all team members are aware and follow processes
  • Recruit, train, manage and motivate new and existing staff members
  • Address and manage non performers, appraisal of high performers and identify talent amongst your team
  • Overseeing 120 transport staff across a number of different locations
  • Manage budgeted costs on an ongoing basis
  • Monitor operational systems and schedule and implement cost effective route schedule. Implement changes / processes / methods to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Following highest standard of Health & Safety. Audit, monitor, implement and ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation. Keeping up to date with the changing transport legislation and relaying information to team

Key Requirements:

  • 5 – 10 years Transport Management Experience
  • Previous experience in FMCG or Food Services environment
  • 3rd Level Qualification in Tranport, Supply Chain or equivalent
  • Proven previous multi-drop, people management and transport compliance experience


The ideal candidate for this role will have a Food Services background, have excellent understanding of transport compliance and have managed large number of transport staff.
