How to catch recruiter attention in seconds with a perfect CV?

When it comes to making a perfect CV, it can take days or even weeks of hard work just for a recruiter to glance it over for a few seconds. 

It can seem unfair, exactly how are you supposed to capture someone’s attention in matter of seconds? Well we have an answer! 

By building your near-perfect CV, you’re essentially investing in yourself, and your future.

So how do you do it?  

Get the basics right

There is no right or wrong way of writing a CV, but there is a common sections you should cover:

• Personal and contact details such as: email address, home address, phone number ect.
• Education and qualifications including job related certificates
• Work history and experience 
• Relevant skills to the job in question 
• Own interests, achievements or hobbies 
• Reference 

Presentation is Key

Always remember, the upper middle area is where the recruiter eye will naturally fall, so make sure you include all of your important information in that area. Also keep in mind that the CV should always be clean and well structured.

Stick to no more than two pages of A4

Keep things short and sweet! A CV is a reassurance to a protentional employer, you don’t need to pages and pages of paper, short CV it’s a chance to tick the right boxes, and if everything is satisfied, there is better chance of a job interview! 

Get the most out of your skills and experience

Under the skills section of your CV focus on key skills that can help you stand out from the crowd. These could be Communication skill, Computer skill ect. 

When it comes to experience use assertive and positive language under the work history section, try to relate the skills you have mentioned in you skill section. Showing the skills and experience that you have gain in positive light, gives you a chance to stand out. 

Include reference

Reference should be from someone who has employed you in the past and can vouch for your skills and experience. If you never worked before you can ask your teacher or tutor to be a referee. Try to include as much as you can. 

Keep the CV updated

It is important to keep updating your CV regularly! If you have new volunteering experience or recent work project, make sure to include it to your CV. Protentional employers are always impressed with candidate who go extra mile to improve their skill and experience. 

The whole process might seem a bit intimidating at first, but now that we broke it into bite-size pieces, It should be much easier.
